Realme has launched the successor to one of its most affordable smartphones, the Realme C33 2023. Does this new budget smartphone offer good value? Here’s my review after testing the device.

Design and Display

The Realme C33 2023 has a plastic build which doesn’t feel the most premium but is lightweight at 187g. It sports a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD with narrow bezels and an 82% screen-to-body ratio. The 720p resolution is decent for the price.

Hardware and Performance

Under the hood is the Unisoc Tiger T612 chipset with 4GB RAM which manages daily tasks like messaging, calls, and social media use without issues. Gaming performance is average and heavier titles cause some lag. Internal storage is 64GB which can be expanded via the microSD slot.

Camera

The Realme C33 2023 dual rear camera features a 50MP main sensor that captures satisfactory shots in good lighting. The depth sensor helps with portrait shots. Selfies come out clear from the 5MP front camera. Video recording is limited to 1080p30fps on the rear.

Battery Life

A 5000mAh battery powers the device and provides over 1.5 days of usage on a single charge. Charging is taken care of by the 10W wired charger included in the box.

Software and Features

The C33 2023 runs Realme’s Realme UI S interface based on Android 12. Key features include a fingerprint sensor, dual SIM support, and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. A 3.5mm headphone jack is available.

Verdict

Priced around Rs. 7,999, the Realme C33 2023 is a capable entry-level smartphone for basic tasks. It has a large display, a long-lasting battery, and expandable storage. Performance could be better but is acceptable at this cost. Those on a strict budget will find it to be good value.
